Monsters In the Daylight

Dark clubs, psychedelic sound
Cacophonous lights paint kaleidoscope creatures across the walls
Fanciful foreign beers lay siege to my brain
And night ignites in this bonfire of spirit
All the while summer threatens to expire,
Run rancid with the blood red leaves of autumn
But for now we can hide here,
In the shadows between the white flashes of piercing radiance
Where everyone is still a child
And the monsters wait with reality in the daylight,
Held at bay,
for now,
by the majesty of our half-drunk dreams
