Faces of My Life

We blend in with the figures
Cast out into the monstrous night
Blurring together with the sounds
The muted colors, the quiet cab ride home, back to the familiar
Sordid strangers from our travels
get swallowed back into the sea
And the tide draws back with the dark inhale of the world
Who was swept away tonight?
Though they never made it deep enough into the pages of our story,
They are more than the insignificance of another moment moving on
A conversation in the cab
A smile of common existence
An exhaled cigarette
Passing shadows and stale conversations still hang in the air
Living the lives that keep us afloat
